How do I get started?

  • Log into your GSA account at www.geron.org then click on GSA Connect in the top blue banner.

  • To view your communities, look to the left on the webpage, select the “My Community Pages” dropdown menu and then select “My Communities”.

  • Start a discussion by clicking “Post New Discussion” from the Discussions tab of any community.

  • Reply to a discussion by clicking "Reply All" from within the discussion online OR by replying to a discussion email notification.

What is my username and password?

Your username and password for GSA Connect is the same as your GSA website username and password. If you don't know your username and password, visit the request your username and password page and it will guide you through the process of resetting your username and/or password. Access the GSA login page.

How do I join a community?

Joining/leaving communities is done through your GSA account and profile.

1.      Login at www.geron.org

2.      Hover over the Membership dropdown menu

3.      Click on Member Center

4.      Click on “Go to your member dashboard à

5.      Click on Profile (on the left)

6.      Select the tab titled Interest Groups

7.      Check or Uncheck the boxes next to the groups which you would like to join/leave

8.      Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Update”

How do I start a new discussion in a community?

New discussions can be started either via your email or by logging into GSA Connect.

Via Email

  1. Enter the email address of the community where you want to post
  2. Write your post
  3. Click Send

Via GSA Connect

  1. Login to GSA Connect
  2.  Go to the community where you want to post
  3. Click “Post a New Discussion”
  4.  Write your post
  5. Click “Post”

 You must be a member of a community to post within that Community.

 How do I reply to a discussion?

To reply to a community discussion, simply reply to the email notification you received. Your reply will be emailed out to all community members and posted to the website. If you wish, you can also reply to the discussion via the website by clicking on the discussion topic and clicking the “Reply All” button.

 Who can see what I post to a community?

All our communities are members-only, so only fellow GSA members can see your posts. Some communities, like committee groups, are private. When you post a message to a private community, only members of that community can see your message.

How do I search group discussion history?

The platform is capable of searching all discussion topics within your groups. The search bar can be found at the top of your Connect home page or under the search tab on the left-hand side of your screen.

How do I change the email notifications I receive from community discussions?

1.        From the menu on the left side of the webpage, click on “My Account”

2.        Click on "Email Preferences" If you want to use the website exclusively and never want to receive an email from the system, select the “No” radio buttons for the following:

1.        Send Me Mobile/Web Notifications (Yes/No radio buttons)

2.        Send Me Emails (Yes/No radio buttons)

3.        Then scroll to the bottom of the page and for “Group Opt In Emails” select “No Emails” from the dropdown menu.

How do I leave a community?

To unsubscribe from any community, go to your GSA subscription management page.

How do I add or change my profile picture?

To add or change a profile picture, click on either your current profile picture or the picture icon, and then select the pencil button at the top right corner of the current picture/icon. You will then be prompted to choose a file to upload.

Why is there a website? Do I have to use it?

Once you have joined a community, the system can be used entirely via email if desired. You can send your messages to the community email address and reply via email to any notifications you receive. The website offers many features that are not available via email. Here are a few of the most popular features that must be accessed via the website:

  • Searchable archives of all community discussions
  • Update your profile and/or upload a photo to be associated with your profile
  • Searching member directory

How do I access the website?

Many of the links in the notification emails will automatically log you onto the Connect website. To access the site directly, type connect.geron.org in the web address bar of your web browser.

Why am I receiving some notifications but not others?

It is likely that your anti-SPAM system is blocking some of the messages. Add "@connect.geron.org" to your list of "safe senders" to ensure you receive all notifications. This setting is different for each email system, so check your email system help for information on how to do this.

Do I need to follow certain etiquette when using GSA Connect?

Yes, please view the Code of Conduct accessible through the Terms webpage.

How can I send a private message to an individual?

Go to the profile page of the person you want to message by clicking their name in any community or in any notification email. Then click the Email link to the right of their profile picture/icon. A new email window should open as a pop-out window. The “To:” field will be automatically populated with the member’s email address. Emails will be sent from and received in your email on file with GSA.
